S.J. Matchett

S.J. Matchett was born in Hong Kong and raised in Brecon, Wales, before joining the police in 1988. Over 30 years, he held senior operational and strategic roles spanning serious crime, counterterrorism, organised crime, intelligence, crisis management, hostage negotiation, and major incident command. An FBI National Academy graduate, he draws on this personal experience in Hunting the Pembrokeshire Murderer: The Backstory, exploring how one of Wales’ most notorious killers was identified. Since retiring in 2019, he has advised organisations on crisis response, consulted for television, and enjoys writing, travel, skiing, triathlon, and the outdoors.
