Ann Drysdale
Ann Drysdale is a prize-winning poet and former journalist on the South Wales Argus. Her well-received poetry collections include Between Dryden and Duffy (2005), The Turn of the Cucumber (1995), Gay Science (1999) and Backwork (2002). Individual poems from these collections have won prizes throughout the UK, and she is the current holder of the Dylan Thomas Prize for poetry in performance. Drysdale was born near Manchester and raised in London. She has lived in various parts of the UK, but currently lives in south Wales, an area which has inspired much of her work, including Real Newport (2006). In addition to her writing career, she has taught at a range of levels, from primary schools to universities.
