Megan Hayes

Megan Hayes is a writer-researcher-facilitator and a relentless optimist. She is the author of five books including her memoir, Glimmering (Seren Books, 2026). Her creative non-fiction was shortlisted for the Laurie Lee Prize in 2024 and her books have been translated into multiple languages. She has taught creative writing for many years, helping to set up the UK’s first online MA Creative Writing and Wellbeing. She currently tutors on the MA Creative Writing (Online) for the University of Hull, as well as facilitating writing for wellbeing sessions in her local community. An interdisciplinary scholar, Megan holds degrees in English Literature, Creative Writing, and Applied Positive Psychology. She was awarded a PhD in English Studies from Teesside University for her thesis entitled Wording the Self: A Positive Psychological Approach to Creative Writing. After traveling and swimming around the world, Megan now lives in Bristol with one husband and several houseplants.
