Four Seren authors at the inaugural Llangwm Literary Festival

The inaugural Llangwm Literary Festival begins tomorrow, and among the many fantastic events in store are three with Seren authors.
Taking place in a beautiful former fishing village nestled on the Cleddau, on the edge of the Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park, the Llangwm Literary Festival features a varied list of literary talks, as well as creative writing and art workshops for adults and children, “Poems and Pints”, drumming, and songs and poetry in English and Welsh. The festival will run over three days, with plenty of activities and events to enjoy throughout. Four Seren authors feature on the list; find out more about their events below.
Jo MazelisIn conversation with Judith BarrowWhere? Llangwm Village HallWhen? Friday 12 August, 18:00–19:00Tickets: £2.50, available hereJo Mazelis will read from and discuss Significance, which won the Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize in 2015. Jo will also read from her latest book, Ritual,1969, a darkly gothic collection of stories exploring the unsettling borderland between reality and the supernatural.
Tony Curtis and Grahame DaviesThe Real South Pembrokeshire, The Poetry of Pembrokeshire and The Lightning Beneath the SeaWhere? Llangwm Village HallWhen? Saturday 13 August, 14:30–15:30Tickets: £2.50, available hereGrahame will read a selection from Lightning Beneath the Sea and new poems, while Tony will read from his Real South Pembrokeshire, and From the Fortunate Isles: New & Selected Poems (forthcoming from Seren, October 2016) and will premiere a recent poem about the disappeared Pembrokeshire village of Pwllcrochan.
Anne Lauppe-DunbarHow to write a historical thrillerWhere? The Cottage Inn, LlangwmWhen? Sunday 14 August, 10:00–11:30Tickets: £7.50, available hereHow do you create a convincing plot, compelling characterisation, decent dialogue, pace, and setting? We will investigate how to incorporate factual events into fiction, how to approach an event through a different lens, or a fresh angle. Ideal for those who already have an event they want to put on the page, this workshop will also aid those who know they want to write, but are uncertain how to get started.Anne Lauppe-Dunbar is a full-time lecturer in creative writing at the University of Swansea and the author of Dark Mermaids (Seren, 2015), shortlisted for the Cross Sports Book of the Year Awards 2016.
