Simon Turner

Simon Turner’s first collection, You Are Here, was published by Heaventree Press in 2007.  His second, Difficult Second Album (2010), appeared with Nine Arches Press in 2010.  His poems have appeared in a number of publications, including Tears in the Fence, The Wolf, Poetry Salzburg, and PN Review, as well as the anthologies Dove Release, Lung Jazz: Young British Poets for Oxfam, and the recent Bloodaxe anthology Dear World & Everyone In It.  He recently completed a stint as a regular reviewer for Dr Fulminare, and a longer critical piece on the Oulipo’s influence on British poetry was published in Stress Fractures: Essays on Poetry (Penned in the Margins, 2010).  In 2011, he was commissioned by Apples & Snakes to write a collaborative piece with Steve Camden (aka Polarbear).  The resulting poem, ‘Everything is Here’, is carved into a water-wall in Birmingham city centre’s Spiceal Street.  He is the most recent recipient of the Purple Moose Prize, and the winning pamphlet, Works on Paper, was published by Seren in 2015.  Birmingham Jazz Incarnation, a pamphlet with Oulipian predilections, is immanent from the Emma Press.  He is currently at work on a third full collection.
