About the books:
Written following a move from London to Cornwall, Katrina Naomi's new collection Wild Persistence considers distance and closeness, and questions how to live. She dissects ‘dualism’ and arrival, sex and dance, a trip to Japan. There is a strong section of poems about the aftermath of an attempted rape. Her voice is convincing and contemporary.
Crowd Sensations by Judy Brown was shortlisted for the Ledbury Forte Prize for Second Collection. Her work is fired as much by intelligence and philosophical speculation, as it is by the emotion stirred up by experience and relationships. Also central to this book is the contrast between the city and the countryside.
