In Memory of Mr Christian Brown OBE KSG

31 May 2018 - 11:14am

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the sudden passing of Mr Christian Brown OBE KSG, who was instrumental in the creation of Cornerstone, an iconic Cardiff hub for cultural and community events in the former Ebenezer Chapel on Charles Street.

Christian is pictured here with Cornerstone Poet in Residence Katherine Stansfield, who performed in the Seren/Cornerstone Poetry Festival, which took place for the first time in February 2018. The festival would not have taken place without Christian’s dynamic leadership and his passion for poetry; we will be forever grateful for his partnership and support.

Christian previously served as a Trustee of the Archdiocese, and was recently awarded a papal knighthood for his services to the Church. Aside from his work within the Diocese, Christian also held very successful roles in the private sector; most notably working in Public Relations for Sir Richard Branson and the Virgin Group. He also undertook numerous charitable works locally and across the UK, for which he was recognised nationally.

“Christian Brown was an irrepressible font of enthusiasm for the arts and as co-founder of the Seren/Cornerstone Poetry festival he has contributed to the culture of Wales in no small measure. We celebrate his vision, courage and considerable humour. He will be missed.” – Amy Wack, Seren Poetry Editor

We send our sincere condolences to Christian’s wide circle of family and friends at this difficult time.
