Peter Finch & Liz Berry – Bodmin Moor Poetry Festival

Enjoy poetry readings from Peter Finch and Liz Berry on the opening night of Bodmin Moor Poetry Festival.

Liz Berry’s first book of poems, Black Country, (Chatto, 2014), was some debut – described by The Guardian as a ‘sooty, soaring hymn to her native West Midlands’ it was a Poetry Book Society Recommendation, received a Somerset Maugham Award and won the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Award and the Forward Prize for Best First Collection.

Peter Finch is quite simply a bastion of British poetry over the past half-century. From 1966 – 1975 he edited and published the seminal Second Aeon magazine, where an astonishing array of talent appeared, including American writers like Ginsberg, Burroughs, Bly, Wantling, Snyder et al. He founded the legendary performance group Cabaret 246, ran the Welsh Arts Council’s Oriel Bookshop, and wound up as CEO of Literature Wales. Recently he’s been making extraordinary psycho-geographic explorations of his native Cardiff, but first and foremost Finch is a poet of distinction; ceaselessly experimental, delicate on the page, explosive off it.
