This month we once again return to Chapter Arts Centre where we'll be joined by guest readers Christopher Meredith and Mari Ellis Dunning. The second of two Poetry Workshops led by Cath Drake this Winter. How do poems lure you into their grip until you’re in much deeper than you imagined? They can make you believe in a whole world with its own rules where places, characters and things may seem impossible yet come across more real than anything.  In the first hour we’ll discuss an inspiring themed batch of poems and will look in depth at the poems and poetic techniques with expert guidance. Company of Words is teaming up with Sherman 5 for this in person literary Open Mic featuring guest the legendary Peter Finch, hosted by artist Alix Edwards. Share your poems, monologues, short scripts and prose in a warm, welcoming environment in the fabulous setting of the Sherman foyer.  Peter Finch is one of Wales most established poets, spoken word pioneers and travel writers. He specialises in books about Cardiff (check out his Real Cardiff series) but first and foremost he is a poet. Join author, poet and psychogeographer Peter Finch as he discusses his latest book, Walking the Valleys (Seren 2022) in which he undertakes fifteen walks around the south Wales Valleys, picking out features en route and providing interesting stories, historical and contemporary, about their past and present. His sharp eye and depth of research is illustrated by photographer John Briggs' images, some of which will be on display, in a lively guide to this famous region.  The event is free, for further information visit:
