The 2019 programme at Plas Glyn-y-Weddw willl start with a special exhibition celebrating the life and work of Jonah Jones. Jonah Jones (17 February 1919 – 29 November 2004) was born Leonard Jones near Wardley, Tyne and Wear in the North East of England, but became known as a Welsh sculptor, artist-craftsman and writer. His father had been a coalminer before being invalided in the First World War; the family endured considerable poverty through the 1920s and 1930s. First Thursday returns for February with a Mufran event, featuring poets Lesley Saunders and Philip Gross. First Thursday is a monthly celebration of new poetry and fiction held at Cardiff’s Chapter Arts Centre. Sunday Lunch with Mslexia Magazine: Poetry Pamphlet prizewinners. Mslexia Editor (and novelist) Debbie Taylor joins Seren Poetry Editor Amy Wack in this celebration of seven years of pamphlet prize winners: with Seren poet Polly Atkin, Cath Drake, Mara Bergman, Ilse Pedler, Yvonne Reddick, Bryony Littlefair.
