Fiona Owen introduces Christopher Meredith 'Poetry, Fiction and States of mind'  A talk, reading and discussion with award-winning novelist, poet and translator Christopher Meredith, whose groud breaking first novel, Shifts, is regarded as a modern classic.  Chris has broadcast on radio and TV and given readings and talks all round Britain as well as in the Czech Republic, Egypt, Estonia, France, Germany, Finland, Ireland, Slovenia and the USA. This month, join Mulfran Press for a 'special' First Thursday which will feature a full performance of poetry and music collaboration Track Record to celebrate the release of the new Track Record chapbook (published by Mulfran Press). 7:30 prompt start, beginning with a full performance of Track Record followed by the usual 2nd half open mic.  Entry £3 on the door or £12 including the chapbook with CD.  Please note: Unfortunately we will not be able to accept card payments for any product purchases at this month's event so please ensure you have enough cash. St. Just, Penzance

Katherine Stansfield will be in conversation with Pat Parry at this literary festival taking place at the annual Cornish Gorsedh.  The event is part of a series of interviews with Holyer an Gof Publishers' Awards authors, and also features Sue Ellery-Hill, Lesley Trotter, and Dick Cole.  Katherine's debut collection of poetry, Playing House, was published by Seren and her novel The Magpie Tree won the Holyer an Gof prize. Free Entry.

Deryn Rees-Jones is among the speakers at this conference which takes place at the close of the first, historic, UK Poet Laureateship held by a woman, the contemporary British poet, Carol Ann Duffy.  It evaluates forty-five years of Duffys' literary work in the light of ten years of her public engagement with the people of the United Kingdom and the world as the country’s literary figurehead.
