Rowan Tree Readings in association with Books Upstairs is delighted to host a poetry reading with three outstanding poets, Deryn Rees-Jones, Tess Gallagher, Nessa O’Mahony. Deryn will be reading from her fifth collection Erato, a Poetry Book Society Recommendation. Named after the muse of love and lyric poetry, Erato combines documentary-style prose narratives with poems to explore the relationship between the private and the public. Join poets Katherine Stansfield and Stephen Payne for a special 'twinned' reading, in which each poet selects and reads their favourite pieces from the other's published works, and shares some new work of their own. Katherine’s first poetry collection Playing House was published by Seren in 2014, with its follow-up We Could Be Anywhere By Now due in early 2020. This course, led by Jonathan Edwards and Patience Agbabi,  will engage with the idea of poetry as play, exploring the joy of messing about with the shape and noise of language, and the seriously great directions this method can lead a poem. Workshops will explore a range of approaches, from the monologue to traditional forms, from the surreal to the love poem.
