An evening of powerful poetry with Elizabeth Parker reading from her exciting debut collection, In Her Shambles, and Robert Walton from his ‘artful and expansive’ Sax Burglar Blues, both recently published by Seren + open mic. £3/£1.50 (concs.) on the door.
Four fine Seren poets - Claire Williamson, Elizabeth Parker, Robert Walton and Paul Deaton - with new poetry collections published in the last eight months, will be joined by celebrated harpist, John L. Take inspiration from contemporary and traditional Japanese poetry, and try your hand at some translation. In this one-day workshop, Katrina Naomi will offer a range of writing exercises based on both contemporary Japanese poetry and traditional Japanese forms. We will read and respond to poetry from the 8th to the 21st century, much of it written by women, looking at the work of Kobayashi Issa, Noriko Ibaragi and Hiromi Ito, amongst others.
