Warwickshire Poetry Voices is delighted to be hosting a morning of poetry with Costa Poetry Award winner Jonathan Edwards at Coleshill Library. Novelist Jayne Joso will discuss Japan’s deep affinity with nature, how this permeates traditional everyday life and culture, and how it pulses through the country’s art and literature. She will talk us through the insights she gained into Japan’s relationship with nature as one of a cycle of transmigration, as one that places the human in equal relation, and as one that is for forever fluid, dynamic and ultimately humbling. Join us for November’s First Thursday event with guest authors Robert Walton and Mike Jenkins. Robert Walton will be reading from his brand new collection of poems, Sax Burglar Blues, which vividly evokes the author’s ecclectic musical world, vivid childhood memories, observations and humour. Well-known poet Mike Jenkins will read his ‘Sofa Surfin’ Merthyr dialect poems from Gwasg Garreg Gwalch. November’s Penned on the Bont event will feature the launch of Paul Deaton's debut poetry collection A Watchful Astronomy (Seren), which has already been awarded the Poetry Book Society Recommendation for Winter 2017, alongside the multi-award winning poet Matthew Francis, launching his 4th Faber poetry collection Mabinogi, plus there will be the OPEN MIC hosted by Rhian Edwards.
