Seren pop-up shop at Chapter

For the second year running, Seren are having a pop-up bookshop in Chapter's entrance hall. We'll be there from Friday 18th to Monday 21st December, with a fantastic selection of books which (as everyone knows) make great Christmas presents. We'll also be visited by some of our favourite authors, who might even sign copies of their books if you're lucky... On our stall you'll find Jerwood Prize-winning fiction from Jo Mazelis, Costa Award-winning poetry from Jonathan Edwards, and seasonal favourite anthology Christmas in Wales. Rhian Elizabeth will be reading at 'Milieu',  a free quarterly night of literature, spoken word, art, photography and visual concepts, bringing together a collective of writers and artists alike. The event is at Little Man Coffee House - literature/spoken word will be upstairs and features Rhian plus Ellen Davies, Maria Grace and Rhys Milsom. Downstairs will be a joint exhibition of illustration and photography from Cardiff-based Liam Barrett and Aussie-born but Cardiff's own, Jaydon Martin. Poets Kim Moore (The Art of Falling), Amanda Dalton, Ian Duhig and Andrew Forster will be leading poetry workshops from 11th-13th December at Abbot Hall Hotel, Grange-over-Sands. Workshop groups will be small and intimate and all participants will have the opportunity for a two hour workshop with each tutor.  In the evenings there will be readings from the tutors and invited guest poets. The fee of £230 includes a three-course meal on the Friday evening, breakfast, lunch and three-course meal on the Saturday and breakfast and lunch on the Sunday, plus accommodation, workshops and readings....

The Roots of Rock

Join us at the Butetown History & Arts Centre to celebrate the soundtrack of Peter's youth and his many road trips around Britain, Ireland, and the musical American South. Peter will be reading from The Roots of Rock, from Cardiff to Mississippi and back, and there will be live music by The Garth Mountain Boys. Entry is free, refreshments provided. RSVP:

The Man at the Corner Table

Guildford are please to present a charity launch of Rosie Shepperd's poetry book The Man at the Corner Table. This sophisticated evening will include wine, canapés and a talk from Rosie about her collection. This is a free event, but the author does ask that, if you wish to, you make a donation on the night to the Number Five Project, a Guildford based homeless charity that aims to provide a stable living environment for all, regardless of background. They aim to support those who want to help themselves stabilise and move towards more independent living.
