Poetry Marathon: Knighton and District Refugee Support Group

A free poetry festival supporting people displaced by war and violence.

On 9th September 2017, Knighton Community centre welcomes you to call in for as little or as long as you like for their Poetry Marathon - a free poetry festival in aid of people displaced by war and violence. We expect that you will stay for longer than you thought you might. Come to hear and see published Poets who are skilled in their use of words and look forward to sharing their poems with you. You can ask questions about their writing, its meaning and why they are helping to raise money for refugees and asylum seekers. Some of them will be interviewed on stage so that you can learn more about their work and motivations.

Amongst those poets who will be speaking throughout the day are two of Seren's talented authors: the gifted young poet, Rhiannon Hooson  (The Other City), and biographer and novelist, Nicholas Murray (Crossings, Real Bloomsbury, Remembering Carmen, A Short Book About Love).

The poetry festival is also supported by nationally known musicians who will sing and play at times through the day until 9pm.

10.45AM - 9.00PM

See the full line-up on the Poetry Marathon website.
