Mametz exhibition at STORIEL, Bangor
The Battle of Mametz Wood was the most significant battle in World War I for Welsh troops. Over 4,000 soldiers of the 38th Welsh Division were killed or wounded there in July 1916.
Aled Rhys Hughes has tried to answer the question: does this landscape have a memory of what happened here one hundred years ago?
From 11 February to 22 April, a selection of Aled’s striking photographs are to be exhibited at STORIEL, the museum and art gallery in Bangor.
STORIEL is open 11:00–17:00, Tuesday to Saturday.
Aled Rhys Hughes’ book Mametz, a photographic essay commemorating the battle, was published in July 2016.
