Maggie Harris | Spring on the Horizon for St. David's Day
Maggie Harris will be participating in a unique collaboration with leading local poets and the acclaimed cellist, Daniel Davies, performing across the counties of Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire. The poets (typically 4 reading at each event) are drawn from a pool that includes: Kittie Belltree, Jackie Biggs, Annie Butler, Ron Geaves, Maggie Harris, Paul Steffan Jones, Dave Urwin and Richard Wheeler. Daniel will be playing short pieces (Improv and Classical) between the readings. Expect an evening of thought provoking, powerful, subtle, visceral wordsmithery from several award winning poets – interwoven with stunning musical colours! Maggie's short story collection, Writing on Water, was published by Seren in 2017. Her stories are informed by the Caribbean, where she was born, and Britain where she has lived as an adult, and through them, the wider world. Issues of belonging and migration feature, but alongside these are growing interests in voice, narrative, gardening and botany, music and family. There are both UK and Caribbean voices in these tales, told by children, migrants, mothers, grandparents. Tickets: £8.00.
