Gwen Davies

Gwen Davies is a translator from Welsh to English, and a creative editor. Her adaptation of Caryl Lewis' prize-winning novel, published in English as Martha, Jack and Shanco, was released in 2007 with Parthian and she is currently working on another of Caryl's novels, to be published as The Jeweller. Her critical writing has appeared in anthologies such as The Babel Guide to Welsh Literature, online, and in journals such as Planet. As translator, she is a contributor to Dalkey Archive Press' international Best European Fiction anthology, 2011. Her translations have been commissioned by the Book Trust and the Welsh Literature Exchange, and have gained the support of the Welsh Books Council and Translators' House Wales. She grew up in a Welsh-speaking family in west Yorkshire, attended Aberystwyth University and stayed in the town since then. Gwen lives with her husband, Simon, and their teenage daughter and son.
