Those curious about the state of Welsh writing could hope for little better introduction than last night's Oxfam Readathon, which brought an extraordinary cross-section of literart talent straight to the Milgi yurt. The standout performance of the evening came from Seren author Peter Finch. A big imposing Welahman dressed all in black, he was forced to hunch in the low - ceilinged yurt like an ogre in a doll's house. The poems he chose were rancorous, unyielding and immensely powerful, and not so much read as spat at the audience.
